Corrugated Packaging

Corrugated board is one of the world’s most commonly used packaging materials and is known for being one of the most environmentally-friendly materials available. For several decades corrugated board has been recovered for recycling and because it is made from natural and renewable resources (wood and starch) the finished product is 100% recyclable.
Box-Board Products, Inc. is committed to operating in an environmentally conscious/sustainable manner and expects this level of commitment from our corrugated suppliers and business partners. Depending upon vendor source and application, the corrugated board used in our facility includes approximately 20-100% recycled content, with the majority being post-consumer waste. In efforts to ensure that the corrugated board Box-Board purchases is produced in an environmentally conscious manner we have requested and reviewed information on the recycled content of the corrugated sheets supplied to us by each of our vendors; upon request, we will be happy to share this information in more detail with you.
In efforts to further our commitment to the protection of the environment, Box-Board has purchased equipment and has put practices in place that support our efforts to reduce our “carbon footprint” which include:
An investment in six new machines over the past five years that improve efficiencies in our energy usage/costs.
The use of water-based flexographic inks which are more environmentally friendly than solvent based inks because they contain lower levels of Volatile Organic Compounds and Hazardous Air Pollutants.
Sending 100% of our corrugated waste to a recycle paper mill as opposed to land fills.
Using our research and development team to reduce customers packaging to various sub-strates, thus reducing the amount of fiber used.
An investment in six new trucks over the past three years that have more environmentally friendly engines making them more energy efficient, reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced while our drivers are making deliveries.
Recycling 100% of our office paper waste as well as the polyester strapping used to wrap bales.
The implementation of special recycling programs with some customers to support our recycling efforts.
The implementation of a pallet conservation program which includes repairing and reusing all wooden pallets instead of purchasing new pallets to replace damaged and/or broken pallets and using our research and development team to produce pallets manufactured out of 100% recyclable corrugated board and paper products.
Searching for alternative sources for recyclable coatings to replace the use of paraffin wax as a water resistant barrier in packaging.
