Colleen is a graduate of The Center for Retailing Studies at Texas A&M University. The Center is the Nation’s Premier institution of retailing education, sponsored by the top retail companies throughout the nation.
After graduating Texas A&M, Colleen joined WNS, Inc., the parent franchiser for Wicks’n’Sticks, Deck the Walls and Wall Paper to Go. As Special Projects Manager for the Wicks’n’Sticks division Colleen organized the largest private buying show in the nation. The WNS tradeshow featured the premier suppliers to the candle and home fragrance industry who came together to support the success of the leading candle retailer with 300 stores nationwide. Colleen’s passion for retailing and the candle industry quickly earned a promotion to Merchandise Manager where she focused her efforts on choreographing and developing the top assortment of home fragrance products the industry had to offer.
Colleen’s extensive network in the Candle, Home Fragrance and Specialty Gift industry landed her a unique opportunity to develop a candle division for the prestigious Ganz Corporation. As General Manager of Product Development for their Art Candle division, now called Time & Again, Colleen designed and developed a complete line of candle and home fragrance products making Ganz one of the key candle suppliers to the specialty gift industry, with 30,000 retail customers across North America. As the candle sales trainer for Ganz U, Colleen used her retail experience from WNS to prepare Ganz’s sales force to better serve the needs of their independent retailers.
Colleen’s diverse retail and manufacturing experience then took her south of the border to Tropical Candles to consult on a down-stream initiative for the world’s largest oil refinery.
Shortly after her two daughters started school full-time Colleen had the pleasure of meeting David Oreck as he began his new business venture into the Candle Industry. Colleen worked with David to establish his manufacturing team and then accepted the position of Director of Product Development.
Colleen and her husband inherited their work ethic and drive from their hard working parents and are committed to passing on these admirable qualities to their two daughters. Colleen’s career and life have been blessed in so many ways that it is her personal commitment to be passionate in everything that she does and to go there with all of her heart.
